RULES FOR THE T-BALL LEAGUE

All rules and regulations made by FYSPS are binding.

No rules will be altered after the season begins.

ASA rules will apply except where we feel it would benefit our teams’ enjoyment and involvement.

ALL JUDGMENT CALLS BY THE UMPIRE ARE FINAL.

***EXCEPTIONS TO ASA RULES***

Since we feel that T-Ball should be a learning stage, we will NOT keep scores.

There will be NO STANDINGS kept.

A team can not have more than 10 players on the field at one time.

The game will be 3 innings or 55 minutes long.

No new inning shall start with less than 10 minutes left in the game.

Teams MUST be ready to play at their scheduled time.

Field dimensions are:  –pitching mound–35’

                                        –basepath–55’

A batting lineup of the players MUST be submitted to the coach of the opposing team prior to the start of the game.  The names and numbers of all players MUST be shown on the lineup.

Each team will bat only the number of players present.

No player may play the same position more than once in a game.

No intentional rolling of the ball will be allowed…the runner will be called safe.

TEEING THE BALL DOES NOT STOP PLAY.

The tee sets ON the home plate.

The catcher tees the ball and steps back behind the tee and waits for the ball to be hit before going to a defensive position.

Any game may be declared official by the umpire if the game cannot proceed because of the weather.  If the game is less than two (2) innings in length or the game has played less than 1/2 hour

and is called because of weather, the game can be rescheduled and replayed.

NO infield practice is allowed prior to the start of a game.

The base runner is NOT permitted to steal bases or lead off any base until the ball has been hit.

IN THE 5&6 YEAR OLD DIVISION ONLY!! Two adults representing the defensive team may be positioned in the outfield to provide instructional aide ONLY!!
If a batted ball strikes the adult the ball shall be alive.
IN THE 9 & UNDER DIVISION ONLY!! All tball rules will apply with the following exception:
The 1st inning will be played as tball, then the remainder of the innings will be played as
“COACH PITCH” Each coach or designated adult shall pitch to his own team. Each batter shall receive 4 pitches, if the batter fails to hit the ball in 4 pitches, the tee will be brought out and the batter will be given 1 additional try. It must be fair. Coaches/designated adults may not interfere with play
Balls and strikes shall not be called, a batter may not strike out swinging.
If a batted ball strikes the adult, the ball shall be alive.

If the batter throws the bat during or after the swing (umpire’s decision) the play is dead, all runners must return to their base, the batter is given a warning, the play continues.  On the second offense of the same batter, the batter will be called out, and will NOT be allowed to bat the remainder of the game but will be allowed to play in the field.  When that batters’ name comes up in the batting lineup it will be handled like an automatic out and the next batter will be up.

A player WILL be ejected from the game for the INTENTIONAL throwing of a bat.

NO WARNING NEEDED.

LAST BATTER OF EACH INNING:

IT IS THE COACHES’ RESPONSIBILITY TO LET THE UMPIRE KNOW IT IS LAST BATTER.

Play is handled like the third out of any inning of a softball game-OR-the pitcher or catcher only, with the ball may touch home plate ending the inning.

PUTTING THE BALL ON THE TEE WILL NOT END THE PLAY.  If the umpire is not notified of the last batter the batter will be called out and the inning will end.

COACHES AND PLAYERS MUST STAY IN THE DUGOUT!!!

Coaches are permitted at 1st and 3rd bases–but they MUST stay in the coaches’ box and CANNOT physically assist a base runner.  If this happens the base runner WILL BE CALLED OUT.

NO ONE MAY ACCOMPANY A BATTER TO THE BATTERS BOX.

A warning for arguing, foul language, or heckling by any coach and/or player will be given-a second offense will result in suspension from that and the next regularly scheduled game.

Fans will be warned once by the umpire for bad sportsmanship, language, and behavior.  If the harassment continues, the umpire will ask them to leave the complex and/or declare the game suspended.

There will be NO alcoholic beverages and/or controlled substances permitted at any practices OR games.  Smoking is NOT permitted on the field or in the dugout.
